THOMAS WINTER lives and works in San Francisco, California.
His background includes more than thirty years as a free-lance piano technician and twenty years as Senior Piano Technician at San Francisco State University.
His interest in early pianos dates from1994 when he assumed
responsibility for the maintenance of an 1808 Clementi grand piano in SFSU's
Frank V. de Bellis Collection.
In 1999 he began building copies of period instruments. Soon
after, he began restoring original instruments. He now builds and restores
full-time in a dedicated workshop in the Bayview district of San Francicso.
